Information Services
1. Parties to this understanding
The libraries of:
- Curtin University
- Edith Cowan University
- Murdoch University
- The University of Notre Dame Australia
- The University of Western Australia
For the purposes of this arrangement, these parties will be referred to as "the participating libraries".
Each participating library is the "home library" for staff and students of its University and the "host" library for staff and students of other participating libraries.
2. Aim
The aim of this Understanding is to provide eligible staff and students of participating libraries with access to the information services of host libraries.
3. Eligibility
The services described below will be provided by host libraries to all current staff and students of other participating libraries.
4. Terms of the understanding
The participating libraries agree that:
- The home library retains principal responsibility for the provision of information services to its staff and students.
- Host libraries will provide eligible staff and students of other participating institutions with:
- directional information relating to the host library and the host University;
- basic instructions on:
- how to find items in the host library's catalogue;
- how to locate materials on the shelves of the host library;
- how to locate materials on the host library's web site;
- use of the host library's circulation system;
- use of the host library's viewing, printing and copying facilities;
- instruction in the use of resources not held by the home library;
- access to information literacy sessions, at the discretion of the host library (fees may be charged)
- fee-based consultancy services at the discretion of the host library.
5. Conditions
- Services will be provided in person, via telephone, and via email where available.
- The host library will provide users with up to five minutes of individual assistance, subject to the availability of staff.
- In depth assistance with resources should be sought from the user's home library wherever possible.
- Access to electronic resources at some host libraries may be restricted due to licence requirements, technical considerations or other university policies e.g. regarding telecommunications.
- Any fees will be set by the host library, to be paid by the user.
