Background and introduction

The Academic User Services Librarians Group (AUSLG) was established in 1987.

AUSLG membership consists of one representative from each WAGUL library. Each University Librarian nominates an institutional representative, normally based on the relevance of the position to user services responsibilities.

Objective

The objective of AUSLG is to identify, analyse and discuss potentially co-operative activities for member libraries relating in particular to information access, reference and information, lending, teaching and learning and document delivery, and to initiate, implement and monitor selected activities as required. AUSLG also facilitates the sharing and exchange of information relating to user services at the policy and operations level and, where appropriate, forwards recommendations to WAGUL.

Operating structure

AUSLG meets at least quarterly on rotation at member institutions. The representative from the host institution convenes and chairs the meeting and is also responsible for developing the agenda and recording the minutes.
