Background and introduction

The WAGUL Information Services Exchange group (WISE) was established in 2008. WISE membership consists of a convenor, and two representatives from each WAGUL library.

Objective
The objective of the WAGUL Information Services Exchange group is to facilitate cooperation between member libraries in the delivery of reference and information services with a particular focus on technology-related issues and information literacy, to support teaching, learning and research.

The goals are to:

  • To provide a forum to promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise, based on emerging issues and trends in information skills and services, relevant to WAGUL libraries.
  • To organise professional development opportunities for reference and information services staff including the opportunity for staff to present to WAGUL colleagues in a supportive environment.

Operating Structure
WISE meets quarterly on rotation at member institutions.  The convenor is responsible for arranging meetings, ensuring events are organized and reporting back to AUSLG.  The convenor role rotates every two years.
